Roopanand Rick: The American Cinematheque and its treasure trove of amazing films

I, Roopanand Rick, 3D animator, film reviewer, and proud owner of four lovable felines -- Max, Gypsy, Paray, and Dexter -- am really interested with the ongoing feature of select Japanese films that the American Cinematheque will be presenting. The premier cultural organization will be showing Japanese movies such as Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Princess Mononoke at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood and the Aero Threatre in Santa Monica.

Established as a spinoff of the Filmex Los Angeles Film Festival that ran consecutively from 1971 to 1983, the American Cinematheque is a nonprofit, viewer-supported cultural group that is exclusively dedicated to the public showing of the moving picture in its various forms. The group presents the best of film and video, from film classics to the avant garde of the media.

Roopanand Rick here is thrilled about the exposure that these Japanese films are getting. Because of the Cinematheque, Japanese studios will get to showcase their projects to a broader audience. They are given the opportunity to be seen and appreciated side by side with Western cinema classics such as Clint Eastwood’s The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and other modern Western cinema pieces.
